Program information
Altoona Regional's research program is housed within the Quality Management department. The program is directed by Sandy Kozielec, director of Quality Management, and Kim Corle, research coordinator. The program's vision is to promote research-based nursing practice. Through development of a structured framework, the program incorporates scientific knowledge into everyday practice to improve patient outcomes. Through research, Altoona Regional addresses issues of health care concern and disparities among varied populations. Commitments to transforming health care through identification of new policies, systems of health care delivery, disease prevention and strategies that will improve health care to all populations are also part of the vision. The vision is accomplished in part through a structured framework of teams to include nurse collaboration at all levels within the organization. The research committee is chaired by Diane Selfridge, director of Nephrology. The problem identification committee is co-chaired by Jan Grove, nurse manager, Pediatrics, and Kim Corle, research coordinator. The resolution team is under the leadership of Jim Robuck, director of Systems Improvement.

Partners will have a variety of clinical experience. Partners will collaborate with multiple disciplines to include, but not be limited to Therapy, Nutrition Services and Behavioral Health. Partners will work under the direction of the Research Coordinator and their direct supervisors. Any work conducted for the research program will occur in collaboration with their current job responsibilities or on volunteer time.
